Running Assessment
Back Works offers running assessments from one of our registered physiotherapists with extensive background in running and gait. A running assessment can optimize your performance, and enjoyment of the sport while reducing the risk of injury and lengthy layoffs while training.
A running assessment may be right for you if:
-
You have been experiencing pain or discomfort during or after your runs.
-
You are developing repeated issues
-
You have recently taken up running or are returning to the sport after a prolonged time off
-
You want to optimize your comfort, performance, endurance and/or enjoyment of the sport.
A running assessment will consist of:
-
Thorough history of your ailments/problem areas as well as any past injuries
-
Orthopedic assessment of those areas if needed.
-
Running evaluation while on a treadmill
-
Shoe and wear pattern assessment as well as recommendations for replacement if needed.
-
Suggestions and exercises to improve your running technique based on your personal running gait.
-
Advice on how to adjust your running over the coming weeks to prevent injury.
What you will need:
-
Your running shoes, new and old if you are transitioning between pairs
-
Running clothing (shorts and running top)
-
Orthotics if you wear them
-
Water bottle, if desired
-
A change of clothes for afterwards as you may work up a little sweat on the treadmill
